Hampstead School scoops award

Pearson Assessment and The Communication Trust has announced the Secondary School of the Year for its continuous commitment to developing student communication skills.

Comedian David Baddiel awarded Hampstead School in London the title after showing how the school explicitly focuses on developing communication, through consistently promoting active listening and effective speaking among staff and students. Every Y7 pupil receives an active listening lesson to identify any pupils who may need further support. The school works with SLTs and an educational psychologist and works closely with SENCO and the Camden SLT team to identify communication strengths and needs of students, and which of their teachers require extra support. Peacehaven Secondary School in East Sussex and St Marylebone C.E Bridge School in London were highly commended.
