​Switched on ICT for KS3 is an exciting new scheme which offers creative ways to teach ICT and computing in a range of meaningful contexts. Get started with programming! covers ICT skills and software in the context of gaming and digital environments, with 6 creative units including skills routes to ensure students make good progress in programming.

With software demos, teacher’s notes, assessment guidance and step-by-step instructions for running each activity you can have complete peace of mind.

How to use Switched on ICT in your school:

1. Prepare

  • Full background information covers everything you’ll need to know before beginning the project
  • Clear learning expectations support planning and preparation
  • Tutorial links brief teachers on unfamiliar software and help them quickly get up to speed

2. Implement

  • Full and step-by-step guidance is provided for running each task
  • Extension ideas are provided for use with more confident students, for homework or if you want to spend more time on a unit
  • Project work can easily be shared with peers, through the school VLE, and provides a great opportunity for home–school links

3. Assess and progress

  • Comprehensive assessment guidance helps teachers identify where students are working within each assessment and then plan next steps
  • Student Assessment Journals support refection and self-assessment
  • Units can be used flexibly or consistently worked through to ensure students make good progress in ICT
