Who are we?

GCSEPod was launched in 2010 and is targeted at Key Stage 4 students with easy-to-use, content-rich audio visual podcasts to support GCSE learning and revision. With multi-platform access, GCSEPod can be used both within a classroom setting and streamed or downloaded ontomobile devices for learning on the go. The teacher written and subject expert edited content covers 19 subjects and features over 3,500 audio-visual podcasts. It is relevant to the six main UK examination boards, as well as Edexcel and CIE IGCSEs.

In December 2013, GCSEPod 2.0 was launched and has been specifically designed to take advantage of both the rapid increase in the use of mobile devices amongst GCSE students as well as this group’s increased

expectations of what they can do with these devices.

What’s new?

Expert Schools

This year GCSEPod introduced

its expert school program to recognise schools and academies that have demonstrated 'Excellence in Practice' in launching and embedding GCSEPod with their

teachers and students. Expert schools must be able to evidence the results to show that their approach is effective and are happy to share their experience with other schools. This has already proved a successful scheme with over 15 expert schools sharing their experiences.

Continuous Professional Development

GCSEPod has helped subscribing schools use its content as part of their staff’s Continuous Professional Development. Teachers are often reluctant to adopt mobile technology based on a lack of knowledge of the platforms and are uncomfortable that their students frequently have greater knowledge than they do. The GCSEPod team has devised a support mechanism for schools to help educate teachers on how to get the best out of both GCSEPod and mobile technology in the school environment. In some instances, using GCSEPod for CPD has influenced the wider school
